At the Asanteman Anti-Pollution Coalition (AAPC), we recognize that education alone cannot fully eradicate environmental degradation; it must be backed by robust and consistent enforcement. While we dedicate substantial resources to community sensitization, we firmly stand behind the principle that sanitation by-laws must be upheld. Based in Konongo, we actively partner with local authorities to ensure that those who willfully pollute our environment are held accountable. By bridging the gap between citizens and regulatory bodies, we help translate environmental laws from paper into visible, daily practice across our communities.

Our enforcement strategy relies on strong, tactical partnerships with the institutions mandated to protect our public spaces. We work in direct collaboration with the Asante Akyem Central Municipal Assembly, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Ghana Police Service, and the Fire Service. We do not act as a vigilante group; rather, we serve as a vital support system for these agencies. AAPC volunteers patrol pollution hotspots alongside Assembly Task Forces, help document instances of illegal dumping and open burning, and provide critical intelligence that empowers authorities to take swift and decisive legal action against offenders.

Vigilance is a core component of our enforcement support. We operate an active citizen-reporting network that monitors illegal dumping sites, tracks choked drains before they cause flooding, and identifies sources of unauthorized waste burning. When a violation is reported to the AAPC, we immediately escalate the evidence to the appropriate authorities—be it the District Assembly for sanitation breaches or the Fire Service for hazardous burning. This systematic monitoring ensures that environmental crimes do not go unnoticed and that the rule of law is applied equitably across markets, lorry parks, and residential areas.
